Sample sales are how people can somewhat afford the designer clothing they covet. I stopped by the Alice + Olivia sample sale and found this pink coat, which is to die for. The boyfriend decided to buy it for me as an “I love you” present and I just couldn’t stop him.
On a different note, I saw The Bling Ring yesterday (with Emma Watson) and highly recommend it. Based on real events, it’s about a group of kids who rob the houses of their favorite Hollywood celebrities, with the idea that this puts them at the top and ultimately untouchable. The movie was written and directed by Sophia Coppola; she points out in the movie the interesting desire society has to be like our celebrity idols, and how far some people go to reach that status.
Other than that, I’m just enjoying my Sunday and getting ready to cook lobster tails for dinner. Follow me on instagram for all my everyday pics.
I finally found a hat! After trying on many hats on the street and in TopShop I found the one. I decided to stop into Free People Saturday (even though I am usually banned from that store) and I found this on sale. All I can say is that I love it.
Anywho! This weekend was spent visting the Museum of Sex (sorry don’t have any pics), drinking Farmer’s Market wine, eating in Little Italy, hanging out in Central Park, and making Sunday night dinner with my boyfriend, best friend & roommate.
I hope everyone had as pleasant of a weekend as I did!
My winner for the most punk goes to Christina Ricci. Why, you may ask? Because she is wearing Vivienne Westwood and VW is the epitome of punk. She helped define this era of fashion and it is only fitting to pay tribute to that contribution.
Though not necessarily punk, Anne Hathaway has a new look, and it and of itself is punk. She is rebelling from the princess she was and embracing her sasha fierce.
Miley’s new do has changed her whole persona. If you look at her and still think Disney you must be high in the Mile High. But really. This was the perfect event for her and I’m shocked she even wore a slip under that dress.
Not only do these ladies represent my girl crushes, but they gave it their all on the red carpet last tonight. Beyonce never disappoints, plus she saved Givenchy from Kim’s shame. My three favorite leading ladies: Nina Dobrev, Allison Williams, and Ashley Greene are stunning. Their all black ensembles not only fit the theme, but were also so unique and trend forward in their structure, materials, and embellishments. Rooney is so punk to begin with she could have shown up in anything, however, she chose to surprise us with this white dress. Honestly, I can’t verbalize how tres beyond the material and trimmings are - love the zippers! Last, rising stars, Dakota Fanning and Cara Delevingne joined the skin game; Their slender gowns with the hair on one side are where it’s at. Rodarte and Burberry should be very pleased with this press.
I’m not going to lie, I caved and started following a K.Stew style blog the other day, but this is disappointing. She is such a bad ass and can rock a jumper, however this satin is just not good for her figure… or the fact that she matches the carpet. I may have liked T.Swift’s dress better with a different hairstyle, but there’s just something off. What is up with this animal print? I thought the theme was punk? J.Lo is just too old at this point to pull that off, and I have a love/hate relationship with Coco - this time was hateful. Gwen’s dress looks like it doesn’t really fit her, so before the limo arrived she cut the top, tied a bow and pinned the sides. I will be an Olsen fan until the day I die, but I have no words for Ashley’s choice, to what I consider, the most important fashion event of the year. Last, poor Givenchy… not only did he need to custom make this horrendous print in a quadruple XL, but was asked to make gloves as well.
Wow, I’m sorry that was mean. Oh wait, it’s Kim Kardashian - GO HOME!
Check out a sneak peek of my up and coming vlog post!

Let it snow, let it snow.
Today was the first real snow we’ve had this season. I decided since I work for the next 5 days I would sleep in and take my time getting ready. However, I am still me and can’t handle not doing something productive, so I convinced my sister to come to Stella’s Coffee Haus with me so she could study for her finals and I could blog.
After all that has happened in the world the last week and the speculations (true or not) that the world is ending Friday, I am enjoying the precious time I get with my siblings. They are really my little babies (not so little anymore).
I hope everyone is having a great day and is enjoying the little things this holiday season.
RED BALL 2012
OMG! Red Ball was HOT this year! Definitely one of my favorite shows I’ve ever been to.
I had the honor of being on the planning committee and representing Fashion Denver with Brandi Shigley.
So many wonderful designers, models, hair stylists, performers, as well as the fabulous committee really made this show spectacular. And on top of all that magic, all funds from the show and silent auction went to the Colorado AIDS Project.
Can’t wait until next year!
FIND OF THE DAY!
I was followed on twitter and fell in love!
Plus, recipes are gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free!
Baking Red Velvet swirl brownies with momma, bowling with Matthew, spending quality time with Ali, working Black Friday and Saturday, having tea with my best friend, and now the home stretch until winter break! Yipeeeee
It’s getting cold here in Colorado and I love it! Fingerless gloves and infinity scarves are what I live for. I’ve also been in love with my boyfriend chinos, which I also own in green. Thanksgiving break is upon us, this week I’ve found myself dressing for comfort and adding a vest or outer layer for style in preparation of this nice week long break!
Hey there Megan!
I’m looking for something with larger frames so that on days when I’m not wearing my contacts, I’ll still be able to see all around me without having to continue to turn my head. I did a home try-on and I thought that the Webb frame wasn’t bad. However I would like to go slightly bigger. If possible, I would like a pair of frames in black or tortoise. Other than that, I’m open to anything you have to say Megan.
For Alice, I recommended the Preston in whiskey tortoise, Sinclair in burgundy fade, and Colton in whiskey tortoise or black. For Alice’s face shape and structure I believed it would be best to go with a medium to wide frame, however I suggested trying the Colton because I usually like to have people try them after the Webb. If Alice decided to do another home try-on I suggested she try the Marshall in striped sassafrass and the Beckett in striped chestnut I think all these frames would compliment her and help her find the right fit.
Thanks for the submission Alice and good luck!
